What even is a brand identity?

Marketing lingo can be so confusing. Marketing professionals use different terms to refer to the same thing. Today, we are breaking down a brand identity. The way we see it, a brand identity is everything that represents your brand visually and verbally.

Much like with humans, the non-verbal communication of your brand can be just as powerful as verbal communication. Recall a recent interaction you have had meeting someone new for the first time. You probably noticed what was VISIBLE – like how they carried themself, how they were dressed, their smile, and the eye contact they made. Along with that, you were probably intent on what was VERBAL – the things they said, the tone they used, and the volume at which they spoke.

Similarly, your brand needs both a visual identity and a strategic message. When we refer to your visual brand identity, we are not just talking about a logo. You need a whole kit of parts – multiple logo iterations, a color palette, typography, and photography. In a sea of competitors, thorough visual identity, paired with a powerful message and consistent personality, will stand out.
